City 4 minutes

Video work “Simulacrum” by Martina Mezak and Josip Zanki describe four elements through four historical periods of the City of Graz: its origin, the Turkish threat, Art deco and the modern period. Video was recorded in different location: Cathedral, Schloosberg, Hauptplatz and Mura Island. Panoramas of the city turns into scenes whose visual base are the film from the personal history of authors “Solaris” Andrei Tarkovsky, “French Lieutenant’s Woman” Karel Reisz, “Pulp Fiction” Quentin Tarantino and “Miracle in Milan” Vittorio de Sica. On the film scene Martina Mezak is intervening with software installation, following  Bresson principle of squares and metaphoricity of each scene. In the video has been used Ingeborg Pock installation and Wolfgang Loffler actions. The work was realized with the assistance of art historian Sarah Čičić

Video rad “Simulacrum” Martine Mezak i Josipa Zankija obrađuje četiri elementa kroz četiri povijesna razdoblja Grada Graza: njegov nastanak, tursku opasnost, secesiju i suvremeno razdoblje. Lokacije na kojima je snimljen video su Katedrala, Schloosberg, Hauptplatz i Mura insel. Vedute grada izmjenjuju se u kadrovima čija su vizualna polazišta filmovi  iz osobne povijesti autora: “Solaris” Andreja Tarkovskog, “Žensku francuskog poručnika” Francoisa Truffauta, “Pulp fiction” Quentina Tarantina i “Čudo u Milanu” Vittoria de Sice. Na snimljene je filmske scene Martina Mezak softverski intervenirala prateći kako samu montažu rađenu po Bressonovskom principu kvadrata  tako i metaforičnost svake od scena. U video radu je korištena instalacija Ingeborg Pock i akcija Wolfganga Lofflera. Rad je realiziran uz asistenciju povjesničarke umjetnosti Sare Čičić.
